Justin Poublon

Justin grew up in Oshkosh, WI fearing thunderstorms and severe weather. Justin witnessed the 1996 Oakfield F5 event from the family farm on the south side of Oshkosh. Days later he visited the city of Oakfield seeing the destruction first hand. Justin’s parents - with very vivid recollection - would often talk about the 1974 Oshkosh F4 tornado. The 2001 Oshkosh bookend vortex hit home causing significant damage to the farm where his interest in weather took off. Justin dreamed of a career in Meteorology and attending the University of Wisconsin after high school but when the weather went quiet Justin took his education in a different direction. In July of 2009 fate intervened as Justin chased his first supercell in Montello, WI bringing him back to weather.

Justin received his Bachelors of Science in Geology from the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh in 2013 while chasing storms across the upper midwest. Justin founded RogueChaseWI in 2010 and Wisconsin Weather in 2013. He wrote weather columns for the Oshkosh Northwestern newspaper in 2014. Justin has witnessed historic tornado events such as Rochelle EF4 (2015) and Chetek EF3 (2017), observing 250+ thunderstorms since 2009. Justin still lives in Oshkosh. He loves football, family, and dreaming of the future.

Hunter Anderson

Born in the mid 1990s outside of Madison, WI, Hunter obtained an interest in weather at the young age of 6. It was the first Wednesday of July, 2002, and his summer daycare group was outside walking around the neighborhood in Cottage Grove taking in as much sun as possible. This also meant that the tornado sirens would initiate for monthly testing purposes--that distinct wailing noise reverberated in his head throughout the summer until he checked out his first weather book in 1st grade. He would be mesmerized by the pictures of building cumulus, monstrous supercells, and electrified skies. Every-other morning he would wake up and watch the weather channel for a couple hours. He would become attached to shows like “Storm Stories”, and eventually “Discovery Channel Storm Chasers”.

He began chasing close to home in 2012 upon receiving his drivers license. In 2013 and consecutive years he expanded his range trying to pursue the most powerful updrafts and downdrafts he could get his 2001 CR-V into. In June, 2014 he graduated from Sun Prairie High School with future aspirations of an atmospheric science degree from St Cloud State University in Minnesota. On the Sunday before his first college courses began, he witnessed his first tornado outside of Gilman, MN. It was at this point he knew he was attending the right school. In fall 2018 he completed his bachelor’s degree in atmospheric sciences from SCSU and has since been getting in better physical shape for his next endeavor--being a meteorologist in the Air Force in later 2019.

In 2012 he was introduced to Justin Poublon’s exceptional work on YouTube and has been in constant communication since. He became a member of WISCONSIN WEATHER immediately upon its conception in 2013, where he has shared many unforgettable chasing experiences (among others) with Justin P, Justin G, Chris V, Joe S, and Isaac S in years following. In his free time Hunter enjoys editing videos for his YouTube page, forecasting, being active and outdoors, and spending time with his friends & family.
