JUN 11, 2020 | Scattered T-storms Today

LAST UPDATE : JUN 11, 2020

8:30AM THU - Strong thunderstorms possible in northern Wisconsin this afternoon. Damaging wind gusts and hail are the primary threats. Storm coverage expected to be isolated/scattered. High-based convection tends to favor damaging wind gust threat but also combination of strong low level lapse rates and low freezing level suggests hail. Overall concern remains relatively low. I will be keeping an eye on it throughout the day.

SPC T-storm outlook for Thursday issued at 8AM

6:30AM WED - Scattered thunderstorms are likely THU PM in northern Wisconsin. Instability is weak but low level lapse rate is strong. Wind shear is unidirectional but shear magnitude is sufficiently strong due to upper level flow. Low level flow is weak. This looks like a northwest flow rapid recovery situation with cells firing generally in the same region throughout the late aft/early evening. Severe risk is there but low-end...we could have a strong/severe storm with gusty winds given strong upper level flow and low level lapse rates.

Will send alerts THU AM if situation warrants.
