WED 10:00AM - Strong to severe storms will move into northwest Wisconsin tonight, weakening gradually into early Friday AM as they move through the state. A gust front with strong gusty winds could sweep through northern WI overnight.
Initial cells could be supercellular with large hail and even tornado potential across NE Minnesota primarily. Storms should quickly evolve into bowing line structures becoming primarily damaging wind gust threat during the late afternoon and evening hours. Wisconsin specifically, models focus in on the Superior/Ashland WI region including the Bayfield Penisula. Severe storms could push all the way to the eastern shore of Upper Michigan (Ironwood to Ontonagon); wind gusts accelerated by open waters of Lake Superior.
Strong to severe storms possible in northwest Wisconsin tonight.
The storms will weakening across northern Wisconsin with a gust front outflow boundary pushing out of the northwest which could bring strong gusty winds. I've carried the strong zone through much of northern WI to bring attention to the possibility. The gust front will knock down the dew point/humidity.
