UPDATE 9/15 - Finished 7-day forecast graphics! Plenty of work left to do all over the place! Super busy with life and it's literally the slowest weather year ever so not forcing it. I will be back soon but until then just go with the flow :)

PROGRESS REPORT - 2/3rds of the way thru rebuilding the 7 day forecasts including graphics. Time consuming. Can go out to 10 days now. Will take a couple of passes to polish the logic. Once in place I will start posting to fb more often. Played around with pulling fb posts into the feed. I can get them but need a new solution for associated images. Reached out to IPAWS for warnings feed, waiting to hear back. Haven't started on email/text alerts, not much dev work just relinking system. Have to play around with current obs more.

Wisconsin Weather July 28, 2023

SPC upgraded parts of Southern Wisconsin for severe storms and are now in a enhanced risk for severe storms. Wind up to 65-70mph and large hail up to 1.75 inches possible. Tornado threat is low but I am expecting a few possible tornadoes. This would happen this evening around 6pm to 11pm. Will have further updates throughout the day. Be weather aware if you are going out tonight. Kevin

8:30PM - Thunderstorms pummeling northern Wisconsin this evening bringing severe weather & much needed rainfall. Storms have preferred west->east movement thus far...we'll see if they can make a push into southern Wisconsin tonight. Severe weather is possible with damaging wind gusts the main threat . STORMS TONIGHT - scattered thunderstorms will develop across Minnesota / northwest Wisconsin this evening. This activity would then spread southeast across the state tonight potentially reaching southern WI. Some uncertainty exists on the exact evolution but its worth keeping an eye on. Severe Thunderstorms are possible, large hail/damaging winds the primary threats. -JP

Chances for severe storms today and Friday for parts of Wisconsin. Today the risk will be winds up to 70 mph and hail up to 1.5 inches. Also I can't rule out a tornado or 2. This will move in around 5pm in northern Wisconsin and move south east. Then the severe storm threat moves into Southern Wisconsin around 4 to 5pm Friday. Friday main threat as of now is wind and hail also. Have a great day. Kevin

10:00pm - two huge cells out to the west tonight. This activity will slide toward Wisconsin overnight. In this situation it's hard to say what the exact evolution will be. Let's call it scattered storms tomorrow with the best chance for rain in the morning. A strong/severe storm is possible. -JP

Overnight/Weds AM - a broken cluster of rain showers will enter the Wisconsin overnight & tomorrow morning with best chance for rain across southern WI. Rainfall amounts generally less than 0.5". Models not 100% agreement on exact location of the heaviest rainfall but placement will become clearer as we get closer. -JP

DROUGHT - Severe to Extreme drought conditions continue across Wisconsin here in late July according to the UNL drought monitor. We are 3-7" below average rainfall over the last 60 days! The CPC 6-10 outlook does show positive signs of a slightly wetter signal with storm chances. This time of year tends to be our wettest so hopefully in the days to come we can start pushing the needle back the other way! -JP Sources - UNL, HPRCC, CPC

Cows were picked up in the Town of Clayton and found in Greenville. My dad watched the tornado cross behind the barn. Down the road it killed a lady helping her elderly mother into the basement. ~ JG

EXPIRED - WINTER STORM - a major storm will impact Wisconsin beginning tonight through Thursday! Several inches of snow over central & northern Wisconsin, possibly over 1 foot in some areas. The latest GFS might be exaggerated on snow predictions but shows the BIG picture. Windy too! In southern Wisconsin sleet, freezing rain, and mixed precip will be the challenge. Hey everyone! Quick update. Still working on an update to pull FB posts into our website news feed. I've developed the communication structure and I'm getting ready to integrate it into the database. I'm a little indecisive about the best path to take so I'll take some time to think. I've been really busy lately! I recently started a new job and now that it's summer I tend to spend more time outside with the family. I haven't forgotten! I hope everyone is doing good! Talk to you soon!
