Next week I will resume development work on the upcoming major update. Reworking the entire "news feed" flow of information that will be displayed in various places around the site. This requires a new database architecture and it's a process to both design & implement. It feels like a natural next step in the evolution of the website, one step closer to perfection and something I've been trying to figure out for awhile just recently coming clear. I'm considering a change to the home page news feed such that ALL my posts CAN appear at the top, i.e image or text updates. Because I don't tend to update the blog and if I don't expire it, old information sits at the top when newer info exists. Anyway, plenty of other projects left to accomplish in the weeks ahead which can move forward after this "feed" project is settled. Take care!

Strong verbiage from SPC, although still some uncertainty regarding storm mode. I told you to expect some real ass kickers tonight. I'm at work this morning, heading out to Northern WI afterwards.

WEDNESDAY - Got a feeling in my spine about this one. Initial development in NW Wisconsin/E MN with propogating segments/embedded supercells, bookend vortex-like system/s plowing through central Wisconsin overnight. Gonna be nasty.

Butt Kicker Severe Storms likely Wednesday Night
The combination of a large instability pool, strong wind shear, and somewhat organized low pressure system could lead to severe weather, potentially some pockets of widespread wind damage

How are the parameters shaping up? I see the SPC has upgraded us to "MDT" Yikes, quite rare for our area!

Watching cells moving thru Duluth, MN area now. Severe Tstorm Warnings pretty common with the cells tonight. Just a few cells atm, maybe some upscale growth this evening into bowing segments. Northern WI most at risk tonight.

WEDS PM/Early THU AM - Pretty strong parameters + strong cap inversion in Northeast WI/Upper Michigan. GFS is more optimistic than 84HR NAM on today's 12z but if cells could fire in Wisconsin they would be severe capable. Something to watch

Work has began on the next major update WIWX v.11 "Social Update". Focusing on new post templates, improved experience, more enjoyable/satisfying interactions w/ other members, back end optimization, and a few other things. Very much in the thick of it now. I have the new post template finished and works very good, looks great. I have many years and many layers of old code scattered around page to page that I need to rewrite and consolidate. That's where most of the work will be in the coming days. AT LEAST a couple weeks away from completion.

Update 10.13 pushed out this afternoon was very tiny & cosmetic. Focused on making home page cleaner, more minor changes to come. Home page continues to be a work in progress. I feel top half is good, bottom half is missing something. Thinking about next large project. When I left off in March I was working on user post templates in attempt to further standardize and improve both appearance and code behind logic. Huge project I'm not sure I should jump into right now. Creating simple UI for querying the new historical database might be fun too.

Storm Reports. Early aft storms in Wisconsin messed up the environment and spared us widespread severe weather. My hunch going in and reason I kept silent. We've got the heavy rain now. Iowa got the tornadoes.

From the SPC "potential for swaths of damaging wind gusts across southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa through much of the CENTRAL WISCONSIN by late Wednesday evening. It appears that this could continue into and across parts of upper and northern lower Michigan overnight."

Green Bay reported this is the fourth driest start to a year on record. Will this be another year like 1988? Farmers were cutting grass along roadsides for cattle feed. Anybody remember that one?

My new office. It'll be awhile before the computer is ready to go. I can update content from my laptop or phone but it takes the big computer for development. I'm actually happy for this because I hadn't been using it a productive manner. Crazy that it's June already and I haven't chased a storm yet this year! All things will come in time.

Will be watching tonight. "Sufficient elevated CAPE above the cold/stable surface-layer will pose a risk of hail in the strongest cells throughout the period." If lightning is present I will be inclined to pursue 😃

Hey all. Mping data will be removed in the near future. Unfortunately not in a position to pay for it. I thought it was cool so perhaps we can bring it back later. Other than that, not much to share. Rebuilding my life. Starting over. Looking to start a new career while keeping meteorology a hobby. I will be chasing like I always have and may post more as opportunities arise Otherwise expect things to carry on as they have. Take care. Thanks!
